Living Young

My child, never forget the things I have taught you.
Store my commands in your heart.
For length of days and long life
And peace they will add to you. Proverbs 3:1-2

Is this not what the world is seeking? How to live longer, healthy and stronger with peace in your heart and home. The life of God flowing from within is truly the secret to these things.

Psalm 103 tells us:
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,
3 who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5 who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Instead of looking to organic foods and supplements of every kind to be our source of life and energy, the Word instructs us to look to our Father God as our source of life and happiness. Does that mean eat junk food or eat whatever we feel like? By no means, it is because we know our Father God is our total source and because our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit we can choose life in our food and exercise choices. It is the fruit of the Spirit working in us.

Occasionally we should check up on ourselves and ask, am I trusting God for my life and health or am I trusting in my own efforts. Do I trust in the fact that I only eat what I think is healthy or because I take these supplements or do I put my trust in God?

When I meditate and personalize God’s Word like Romans 8:11 “the Spirit of Him who raised Christ Jesus from the dead dwells in me and gives life to my mortal body,” I know it is my Father God who blesses and keeps me.

It is the fact that our life is hidden in Christ Jesus that keeps us young and strong to the end.

Amen! There are so many different ideas on how to be healthy now that it can be overwhelming. One says no carbs, one says no fat, one says no meat, one says we must have fermented foods and on an on it goes. And that is just food! What about exercise? What about non-toxic, all natural skin care products and soaps?
If our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit then it only makes sense to go to the Word first and believe our health and well being comes from the Father. Then we can trust Him to lead us in how we should take care of His temple. It is faith in Him that will truly make a difference and give us peace. If we are walking in obedience we will have the grace to do what we need to do. We can eat as healthy as we know how and still be worried if we are doing the right thing if we are looking to the world for answers. Then the worry and fear are bad for our health, robbing us of rest. Father God made our bodies and He knows how to take care of us. There is sweet rest and peace in that.
