Psalm 91 Verse 2

Psalm 91:2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

In Psalm 91, verse 2, we enter the secret place  by declaring, “Lord, You are my refuge, You are my fortress, You are my God, I put my trust in You.”

Faith is released when we speak it, see 2 Corinthians 4:13 “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;” Pray it, Declare it, Speak it aloud. Allow the Word to do the work.

To experience the benefits God has provided, we must receive them by faith. Let’s look at faith. What is your picture of faith? Have you ever thought, “I must not have enough faith?” That is an enemy trick to disqualify you. It’s really not about having enough faith, it’s about using the faith that God has given you already. We are not the source of our faith, it is not something we muster up, we do not manufacture our own faith.

Rom 12:3 tells us, “For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.”

By declaring, “The Lord is my refuge and my fortress; my secret place”, you are exercising the faith that God has given you. You are making a decision to believe the Word of God.

It is only by faith can we enter the secret place of the Most High. There is no amount of our goodness or good works that will open the door to the secret place; Jesus is the door. He is our righteousness.

Phil 3:9 tells us our righteousness comes from God, “..not having mine own righteousness, which is of the works of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.”

When Jesus was getting ready to ascend to heaven He told His disciples that He would not leave them orphaned but that the Father would send the Holy Spirit to be with us, to empower us to do the same things that He did on earth and more. One of the missions of the Holy Spirit is to be our teacher, our guide, He is to lead us into all truth.

1 Cor 2:12 tells us, “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.”

In Psalm 91, the Spirit of God is revealing to us that the secret place has been freely given to us. “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” We choose to be in the secret place when we release our faith in what Jesus has done for us, when we declare that the Lord is our hiding place, our strong tower, our fortress, a refuge of safety.

  1. Sarah Girem says:

Thank you for sharing this word because I know as I receive this word and declare it, my faith is released.

    Romans 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God

I’m going through all of these lessons again.
A couple of examples of Jesus living this are in John 10:39 “Therefore they sought again to seize Him, but He escaped out of their hand” and Luke 4:28-30 “And all the people in the synagogue were filled with rage as they heard these things; and they got up and drove Him out of the city, and led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city had been built, in order to throw Him down the cliff. But passing through their midst, He went His way.”
Even as a baby God protected Jesus by telling Joseph to flee to Egypt with Mary and Jesus when Herod was going to try to kill Him.
