What does reset mean?

What picture comes to your mind when you hear the word reset? Here are some thoughts from Merriam-Webster:
• to return to factory settings
• to move something back to an original place or position
• to put a broken bone back in the correct position for healing
• to put a gem into a new piece of jewelry
• to set again
• reset your clock

I like the one that says return to factory settings.

I was reading Colossians today in the Passion translation and saw another picture for reset.

Colossians 1:20 TPT And by the blood of his cross, everything in heaven and earth is brought back to himself— back to its original intent, restored to innocence again !

Back to its original intent. Think about that. What is our original intent? I believe our original intent is to be in sweet fellowship with our Father God.

I believe one of the reasons Father God is saying “reset” is we as the body of Christ have drifted away from the simplicity of the Gospel. There are a plethora of distractions in our society today like never before. The amount of input we have on a daily basis from the world around us in comparison to the amount we hear the Word of God is off the charts.

The Word of God tells us to pay very close attention to the things we have heard lest we drift away. It is so easy for a boat or plane to drift off course if no one is paying attention. The same can happen to us.
Heb 2:1 NKJV Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.
Col 1:23 NLT But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News..

Ask God to show where your heart may have drifted.

  1. Rose Kihm says:

Yes, we need to let the Word continually keep us on course.
It made me think of the parable of The Sower Sows the Word. We need to guard our hearts from things the enemy tries to use to distract us like worry, cares of the world, deceitfulness of riches.
